A social housing resident in Shropshire has explained to attendees at a resident liaison meeting that thanks to ground source heat pumps from Ice Energy, his total energy bill for all heating, cooking and hot water is just £3 per week.
Tom Cox had a ground source heat pump installed in 2014 as part of a heating upgrade programme in the village of Clee Hill in Shropshire. The heat pumps, supplied by Ice Energy, replaced electric storage heaters in almost 30 properties in the Three Crosses area which is is off the main gas grid.
In the video below, Tom explains to a group of residents who will shortly see their own antiquated heating systems upgraded to heat pumps, how his energy bills have been dramatically reduced and just how much difference his heat pump has made in terms of reliable and effective heating.
The scheme, which won in the Large Scale Project of the Year category at the West Midlands Regional Energy Efficiency & Retrofit Awards, was part funded by Renewable Heat Premium Payment funding and officially opened by the Head of the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive at DECC, Sarah Redwood.
